Reactive Support

Having a dog who struggles around other dogs can be a life limiting issue for you and your canine companion, I know! I have been there myself.

Dreading walks, embarrassed, going out early in the morning and late at night, unable to go on dog walks with friends and family, missing out on the beautiful places to walk as there might be other dogs, not able to go to the pub or cafe, the list goes on!

Helping you and your dog can be complex, but that doesn't mean its not possible, it means we have to tackle the issue from multiple avenues to get results and fast track your journey to the end goal.

To truly progress, you need to understand what is going on with your dog, have the knowledge on how to help your dog manage their emotions, train yourself and your dog on the skills needed to work through reactions and more.

Doing this via the traditional 1:1 training format is slow, expensive and frustrating for people and trainers alike, so at Great Paws we do things in a way that drives results and provides motivation.

We deliver the knowledge, assessment, core training, handler skills, support, feedback and more through our Great Paws Click - Tail Blazer Membership community. Click the button below to learn all about it.

Using the vast amount of resources in the Click Membership, you will then be in a more informed and skilled position to join us in the "Real World" Reactive training services.

All of our services below are designed to provide real challenges to you and your dog and support you to build on your Click training (or any other training you may be doing), but around other dogs in a variety of different set ups!

NOTE - You are welcome to book on to the services below without being a Click Tail Blazer member or having taken part in any other training with Great Paws, however, your trainer may reference knowledge and skills during the session which you may not be familiar with and will not be covered during the practical Reactive sessions.

REACTIVE SUPPORT SERVICES

We recommend starting with our Reactive Social Club and Reactive Social Walk services and then complimenting these with the mini 1:1 sessions.

"Reactive" Social Club Session

These 40 minute sessions are designed to help push your existing training forward in a group setting. The perfect compliment to our Click Tail Blazer Membership and Reactive Workshops.

Social Club sessions are limited to just 3 dogs which enables us to create specific safe set ups for your dog to have exposure to other dog triggers but in a way which supports their learning and desensitisation whilst also enabling you to build more confidence in your handling and learning more about your dog without the "real world" pressures causing you to react yourself and "get out of dodge".

Over the course of the session, you will work across three different stations, each designed to tap into a different challenge for you and your dog and allows controlled distance reduction between you and other dogs. All of these stations are designed to give you knowledge and skills to support you in real life.

All sessions will take place in or around the Great Paws Venue.

The duration of these sessions is deliberately shorter than our other services, as we will work you and your dog hard with a specific focus, as such a longer duration would result in physical and mental fatigue for both you and your dog, which would work against your goals.

"Reactive" Mini 1:1 Session

These mini 30 minute sessions are designed to help push your existing training forward. The perfect compliment to our Click Tail Blazer Membership and Reactive Workshops.

In your first session we will conduct an assessment so we can learn more about your handling skills, confidence and more importantly learn about how your dog deals with other canine triggers. From here we can provide advice an guidance on how to progress your training.

Future 1:1 sessions will then be tailored to you and your dogs needs with heavy focus on handling skills, understanding your dogs needs, teaching your dog new skills and strategies and where appropriate, working short intense sessions with a real stooge dog at reduced proximity or practicing walking skills (walk pass, blind corners, followings etc.)

All sessions will take place in or around the Great Paws Venue.

The duration of these sessions is deliberately shorter than our other services, as we will work you and your dog hard with a specific focus, as such a longer duration would result in physical and mental fatigue for both you and your dog, which would work against your goals.
