Terms & Conditions

By paying for, attending or taking part in any service offered by Great Paws including but not limited to Day Train Academy, 1:1, courses, Social Clubs, workshops, online training, class or event, you are agreeing to the following T&Cs. Non-compliance may result in discontinuation of service without a refund. 

General Terms & Conditions

  • All services including rolling must be paid for in advance or on the day by either cash, card, PayPal or BACS transfer.
  • In the event you are unable to attend a service that you have paid for, you must notify Great Paws within 72 hours (via email) of the service starting for it to be rescheduled or ten days prior to the start date should you wish to request a refund. We require five working days for a refund to be delivered and a £15 administration fee will be incurred. 
  • In the event you are unable to attend a single service you have paid for but are within 72-hour period, we may be unable to offer a reschedule and that service session may be lost and unable to be refunded. In the case of extenuating circumstances, an alteration to this condition may be considered, but this shall be determined by Great Paws on a case by case basis.
  • In the event you are unable to attend an entire class you have paid for, you are allowed one ‘deferral’ to move to other class providing 5 working days’ notice is provided via email. If you notify Great Paws after this time or once class has commenced, the deferral is void.
  • Great Paws will apply personal judgement and postpone or cut short a training session, if necessary, because of extreme weather conditions; including, but not limited to excessive heat, torrential rain, thunder storms and snow/ice. The decision to do so lays with the judgment of the trainer, for the safety of themselves, members of the public, other animals and that of the recipient. In such circumstances a referral will be offered but the decision to give a refund for that session (either complete or partial) is at the discretion of Great Paws.
  • The trainer will apply personal judgement and cut short a training session, if necessary, if we feel the dog is not coping well. In the case of anxious dogs, we may do the initial session with the owner only or split the initial consultation into two smaller sessions.
  • Although we cannot fully guarantee a 100% success rate with our training methods, we have a high success rate with previous clients who follow and practice our methods in the long term.
  • Our methods are all kind, ethical and effective however are never instant and take commitment from the client to work with their dog in the long-term.
  • All advice given is done so within the confides of the trainer’s knowledge, training and experience. Although every care is taken to ensure the advice is sound safe and appropriate, Great Paws, its trainers, volunteers or staff cannot be held liable for any issues, harm or costs incurred from acting on this advice.
  • Great Paws reserves the right to cancel the contract (at any time & with immediate effect) if any dog/s under the contract do not respond well to the plan (where the continuing of said contract is deemed, by Great Paws, to constitute a risk).
  • You must not knowingly book an aggressive or highly reactive dog onto any service or event with Great Paws without informing us first. In the event it is discovered your dog is a danger to themselves or others in a class setting, you may be asked to leave and not be offered a refund.
    • If unsure of your dog’s level of aggression or reactivity, we will offer an evaluation at a Great Paws venue to determine suitability. In the event your dog is uncomfortable or reactive within the class environment, we will offer an alternative solution such as 1-2-1 sessions in order for you and your dog to meet your goals and needs.
  • All dogs that are known to by their handler to have a bite history (people or animals) or have caused injury , need to wear a muzzle, we take no responsibility for dogs who are not muzzled or kept under control, during our session or when working outside of our session. Failure to wear a muzzle when asked may result in termination of your support without refund.
  • All dogs must be kept under control at all times, with no exceptions. When dogs are not being worked, they must either be in their car, in a crate or on leash and under control by their handler.
    • Dogs are not allowed off leash unless specifically instructed by the instructor for specific circumstances such as recall or class training or off-leash searches for scent work.
  • All dog poo must be picked up by the dog’s owner and disposed of appropriately in a designated bin, if one is not available, you must take this home and dispose.
  • When attending classes, attendees must bring their own dog food/rewards and poo bags along with any other items as requested by Great Paws within reason (e.g. mat/bed/toy). Great Paws and its team can take no responsibility for any allergens or allergic reactions your dog has while at a Great Paws event.
  • Great Paws will endeavor to run training classes in a professional, organised and safe manner for all involved. Great Paws is fully insured with public liability insurance suitable for running dog training classes, 1-2-1s, seminars and workshops. Participation in Great Paws’s various classes, 1-2-1s, seminars and workshops is entirely at risk of the participant and their dog. Great Paws, its staff, volunteers and owners of our training venues take no responsibility for injuries or losses sustained. Handlers remain responsible for their own dogs at all times, and are advised to have pet insurance covering their animal in the unlikely event of injury or an accident to occur to a third party.
  • When working with any dogs that show aggressive or highly anxious behavior, no official behavioral modification training can take place until the dog has been vet checked to rule out any pain or discomfort. Upon request clients can be sent over a vet referral form for their vet to sign off on. Unfortunately, if the student does not wish to get their dog thoroughly vet checked if pain is suspected, then behavioral modification training cannot continue.
  • If working at a different location, we take no responsibility for any difficulty students have with finding the location and any injuries or losses that may occur at that venue. 
  • Although we strive to not cancel or postpone classes, if due to weather, venue issues, injury or illness and we are in a position where we cannot run as planned, we will contact students via email and via text if possible. We always aim to inform clients at least one hour in advance, however this may not always be possible in all circumstances. It is advised that students check emails before leaving to attend dog training and before session commences. 
  • Great Paws reserves the right to take photographic, video and audio content of all Great Paws related activities including Day Train Academy, classes, 1-2-1s, seminars and workshops. By agreeing to the terms and conditions you agree that yourself, your dog and anybody who attends the session with you give consent for these mediums to be used for marketing purposes on Great Paws’s website, promotional content and social media accounts.
  • Great Paws is all about providing the best experience for customers and dogs. If what is provided is not to satisfaction, please inform us and we can either explain our reasoning more thoroughly or make alterations. 
  • Great Paws follows the IMDT Code of Ethics, which can be found here.

Social & Reactive Social Paws Sessions

  • All attendees must complete an induction and assessment session first, all questions asked must be answered honestly. 
  • All dogs that are known to by their handler to have a bite history (people or animals) or have caused injury , need to wear a muzzle, we take no responsibility for dogs, including those who are not muzzled or kept under control, during our session or when working outside of our session. Failure to wear a muzzle when asked may result in termination of your support without refund.
  • All dogs must be covered by their own 3rd Party liability insurance.
  • No aversive equipment must be used by handler. This includes choke chains, slip leads, anti pull harness and head collars and any other item identified by the Great Paws team. Where present you will be asked to remove it or leave the session. No refund will be provided. 
  • Your dog must be illness and injury free for 48 hours prior to attending and must not be in season. 
  • All dogs must be kept under control at all times, with no exceptions. When dogs are not being worked, they must either be in their car, in a crate or on leash and under control by their handler.
    • Dogs are not allowed off leash unless specifically instructed by the instructor for specific circumstances such as recall or class training or off-leash searches for scent work.
  • All dog poo must be picked up by the dog’s owner and disposed of appropriately in a designated bin, if one is not available, you must take this home and dispose.
  • When attending sessions, attendees must bring their own dog food/rewards and poo bags along with any other items as requested by Great Paws within reason (e.g. mat/bed/toy).   • Great Paws will notify any attendees via email at the earliest opportunity, should the session be unable to go ahead for any reason including adverse weather. All attendees must check their email (including spam/junk) prior to attending. 

Covid-19 Specific Terms and Conditions

  • If any student, household member or person a student has been in contact with presents symptoms of Covid-19, they are not permitted to attend class for two weeks. 
  • It is recommended that clients and anyone attending any session with Great Paws use hand sanitiser and pet-safe disinfectant to thoroughly clean any of their equipment that may have been handled by a non-household member.
  • In the event we are placed into a lockdown during a 1-2-1 program or a set of training classes, the following options are available for students:
    • Complete the block of classes/1-2-1 consults over Zoom.
    • Upon lockdown ending, continuing as before. In the event you have booked onto classes that fellow classmates redeemed online, your classes will be replaced by two half an hour 1-2-1 slots at a time convenient to you and Great Paws.

Great Paws Training Venue Specific Terms and Conditions

  • No dogs or handlers are permitted to interact with any animals on site other than their own.
  • No dogs or handlers are permitted to enter any fields or locations not designated as Great Paws.
  • Please do not block any access to any road or building and keep close control of your dog at all times.
  • Do not allow your dog to interact with any people or dogs that are at the venue unless permitted by the trainer.
  • Do not allow your dog to urinate against any other venues, vehicles or property on the site. 
  • Always pick up and dispose of dog poo in appropriate bin. 

Day Train Academy Specific Terms and Conditions

  •  Great Paws LTD and representatives thereof may act in the Client’s absence as guardians of their dog and may perform or take any action which they deem necessary in order to protect and keep in good health the Client’s dog.  In an emergency situation, Great Paws have the authority to make important healthcare-related decisions on behalf of the Client in the instance that the Client cannot be contacted and the matter is a dog welfare issue – in collaboration with our partnered vets.
  • The Client will take responsibility for any costs which may be incurred, by either veterinary or other, as a result of any damage, accident, or sickness caused to or by their dog and will pay any such costs or expenses on demand.
  • Nothing in the Contract shall limit or exclude Great Paws LTD liability for:
    a. death or personal injury to a human being caused by its negligence, or the negligence of its employees, agents, or subcontractors;
    b. fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
    c. breach of the terms implied by section 2 of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (title and quiet possession) or any other liability which cannot be limited or excluded by applicable law.
  • The Client agrees to ensure that their dog/s will be kept up to date on all vaccinations, de-worming, and de-fleaing.
  • If fleas, ticks, or lice are noticed on the Client’s dog, the Client will receive immediate communication to seek advice from their vet. Great Paws will not administer medication without the Client’s consent. If the Client cannot be contacted the dog will be monitored and isolated if appropriate until the dog is collected.
  • In the event of requiring emergency treatment, the Client agrees that the designated emergency vet of Great Paws LTD is authorized to treat. In any other circumstances, the Client will be contacted and treatment/appointments will take place through their dog’s regular registered vet. The details of each center’s registered vet can be found at the reception of each center, details can be shared and a certificate of the partnership will be displayed.
  • The owner or designated main point of contact must be contacted to give consent for euthanasia in ALL circumstances where this is recommended as the course of action by a veterinary professional. Should the client and the dog’s emergency contact not be contactable, veterinary advice will be followed. In the unfortunate circumstances of an emergency, where warranted Great Paws vows to keep a record of all euthanasia and the identity of the qualified veterinarian that carried it out.
  • Medicines instructed to be given to their dog during their time at Great Paws by the Client will be stored, used, and disposed of in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer. Medicines will only be administered to their dog with the Client’s consent following veterinary advice.
  • The Client consents that Individual rooms and other safe confinement (e.g. crates) may be used for rest breaks and feeding if required and in the event of exceptional circumstances to maintain dog and human safety as appropriate and only if absolutely necessary, their dog may be placed in a crate for a limited time. Should a crate be used, dogs will not be placed in a crate for longer than one hour in any 8-hour period as this is the guidance under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals)(England) Regulations 2018.
  • Great Paws does not supply dog food. If the Client supplies their dog with a daily meal whilst at Great Paws then the Client understands their dog will be fed in their designated room area in isolation from other dogs.
  • By attending Great Paws, the Client consents for Great Paws to feed their dog with food-based rewards, supplements and enrichment feeders/toys. Food and any supporting supplements will be supplied by Great Paws or the Client may provide food if they wish. 
  • All dogs who attend Great Paws partake in an enrichment program that involves socialization, play, scents, food rewards, and interaction, and by sending their dog to Great Paws the Client consents to their dog partaking in all activities provided, and appropriate adjustments will be made to allow the participation of dogs with special requirements.
  • Force Majeure. Neither party shall be in breach of this Contract nor liable for delay in performing, or failure to perform, any of its obligations under this Contract if such delay or failure results from events, circumstances, or causes beyond its reasonable control.

Sale Of Goods Terms and Conditions

  • Great Paws accept no liability for the good or any harm, injury, costs or death caused to human or animal by failure or misuse of the goods sold. 
  • Any purchase comes with warranty and returns procedure of the manufacturer and/or wholesale supplier.
  • Great Paws will endeavor to support any returns/damaged/faulty cases raised however all goods sold are subject to no returns
