Scent Detection Courses
How It Works
Scent Detection training is a little different from classes you may have attended previously.
We only have 4 dogs per course. We work in rotation, meaning there is only one dog at a time in the training venue. When your dog finishes their session, you will be asked to return your dog to the car or to one of the Day Train Academy rooms to keep them safe and comfortable whilst you return to the venue for observational learning.
This process ensures your dog can have the most relaxed yet focused learning experience and you get to build on your knowledge of the scent training journey!
It also allows the course to be inclusive to those dogs who may struggle around other dogs. This helps brings the power of scent detection to everyone!
Our courses are designed for dogs aged 6 months and older.
All courses include a digital workbook to support your learning and our Introduction Course includes a College Of Scent Dogs Scent Kit, perfect for your Scent Detection learning and enjoying the skills at home.
Scent Introduction course
This enables you and our dog to obtain the core knowledge and skills to begin your amazing adventure into scent detection covering Scent Identification and Understanding, Searching Skills, Scent Indication.
Level 1 - Scentsavvy
Following on from the Introduction Course, we move onto our progression levels, Starting with a 4 week L1 course to help advance your core skills and learn new search methods
Level 2 - Scentstar
Our L2 4 week course advances you further, creating challenging search environments for you to employ all of your skills and navigate some fun mental obstacles for you and your canine companion
Level 3 - Scentsation
Our L3 4 week course brings the world of mystery solving, competition style trials and complex hides to really show off you and your canine companions scentsational skills!
